ISGH Sunday School is back in session

Alhumdulillah, ISGH Sunday School is back in session. Please register your kids ASAP and the registration packet for this year has been attached. No registrations will be entertained after Oct 9th, 2011 unless, there is a valid justification. School timings are from 10:30am and until Zuhr prayers. Class schedule is also attached. Please be prompt in bringing your kids so, they can attend the assembly as well as go to their classes in time.
There will also be free educational classes during Sunday school sessions in Tajweed, Seerah and Islamic practice for adults . These classes will be conducted by Br. Khalil, Br. Amjad Ali, Br. Amjad Khan and Br. Athar. Please make use of this opportunity and try to attend.

No Sunday School this Sunday, September 11th

Due to the flooding conditions around Harrisburg and Steelton areas, we’ll postpone the start of the ISGH Sunday School until September 18th, 2011, insha’Allah.

Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, August 31st

No moon sightings have been reported in North America. Therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Wednesday, August 31st.

Tuesday, August 30th will be the final day of Ramadan. An early Eid Mubarak to all.

Insha’Allah, we’ll have two Eid Prayers at ISGH. First Eid Prayer will start at 7:45 AM and the second will start at 9:00 AM sharp respectively.We highly recommend that you attend the first prayer and try to be there at least half an hour before each salah so, you have enough time to find parking and be in the Masjid on time.Arrangements are being made in gymnasium for sisters to pray. For conveneince, we’re also having a temporary carpet laid out.

Parking
Parking is available in the ISGH complex as well as on the streets. There are also more parking space being arranged at the Advanced Auto Parts store just across the street. We recommend that you please follow volunteer’s instruction for parking. We also encourage you to consider carpooling as necessary.

Snacks
There will be a light breakfast served after the Eid Salah. Please try to bring a covered dish if possible. 

Eid Sunnah

  • Fitrana is $7 per person and it is important that you pay your Fitrana before Eid Salah.
  • Use two separate route to and from the Masjid.
  • Have breakfast on Eid-al-Fitr before leaving for Masjid.
  • Recite the following Takbir on the way to Salah and until the beginning of Salat-al-Eid:

Allaho Akber, Allaho Akber. La ila ha illlallah. Allaho Akber, Allaho Akber. Wa lilahill hamd.

Eid-ul-Fitr Arrangements at ISGH

Assalamualikum Dear Brothers & Sisters
 
Insha’Allah, Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at ISGH this year and will be either on Tuesday, August 30th or Wednesday, August 31st depending on moon-sighting. Please keep an eye on the ISGH website, as well as, you may also call in ISGH phone line @ (717) 889-1277  for the latest Eid details.

A quick update on ISGH Sunday School

Dear Muslim Community of Greater Harrisbug

Assalamu Alaikum,

During the summer recess, we as the ISGH Council will be looking for ways to upgrade ourIslamic Sunday School for the Fall 2011 semester, Insha ALLAH.We are in the process of reviewing the following

  • ISGH Sunday School Curriculum
  • The Student Fee’s Structure
  • The Possibility of hiring a Principal and Sunday School Secretary
  • Paying the Teachers for their hard work
  • Setting up a Parent Teacher Organization
  • Encouraging better weekly attendance
  • Maintaining strict disciplinary guidelines in order to foster a positive learning environment (i.e. bullying will not be tolerated).

Our goal is to create an environment where students can learn the basics of Islam. Insha Allahthis will encourage them to acquire more knowledge of Islam throughout their lives. The support of the parents is vital for the success of the ISGH Sunday School.

ISGH Evening School Teacher

Assalamualikum Brothers and Sisters,

Thank you for participating in the below evening school survey.  We greatly appreciate your time and feedback. Alhumdulillah, the response from the community was overwhelming. Results of the survey affirms that there is a strong need to have an evening school at ISGH. Alhumdulillah, we are now moving forward with the next step and are planning to hire a teacher who meets the following requirements,

  • Graduate from an accredited Islamic university
  • Well versed in the Quran, preferably a hafeez
  • Preferably following the Hanafi Madhab, but experience and tolerance with all Madhabs including (Maliki, Shafi’i and Hanbali) (Al Sunnah wal Jammah)
  • Experienced in teaching Quran, Islamic Fiqh, and Islamic Practice
  • Excellent communications skills and well versed with American culture
  • Must be proficient in English and Arabic languages
  • Must have a green card and be able to work in the United States of America
  • Experience in Team Building
