The ACLU is nation’s guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.

The picnic will be held in Adam Ricci Park, Enola, on June 9th, 2012 between 12PM & 6PM, insha’Allah, and there is no charge for this event.

Please mark your calendar and let other Muslims know about this event. It is once a year occasion to meet other Muslims in the area and to enjoy the variety of food from all over the world. There will also be many sports and other fun activities so, come and be the part of the largest gathering of Muslims in Central Pennsylvania.

Islamic Society of Greater Harrisburg (ISGH) is hosting WhyIslam’s Dawah workshop this Saturday, April 28th 2012.

The workshop is being presented to inspire and to educate all attendees on the etiquettes of Dawah, so please come and invite others as well.

An independent soup kitchen committee under the guidance of Sr. Samia Malik, along with collaboration of the various Islamic centers, is organizing the soup kitchen.
There are many Ahadith”s that encourages us to feed the hungry. Our Prophet peace be upon him said ” A person has sinned enough if they neglect to feed those in need”
This will be organized on a monthly basis starting from April 21st, 2012 between 12 and 1PM, insha’Allah
Venue will be Islamic centers parking lots, gym area or kitchen area, depending on the weather and respecting the boundaries set by the Islamic centers officials. The food most likely be prepared in the Islamic center’s kitchen area and it will consist of a simple one dish meal. The funding for this project will be the responsibility of the Soup kitchen committee.

This is being started only to obey the commands of Allah SWT. Insha’Allah, this will fos-ter goodwill and trust among our neighbor’s and the community we live in.

Congratulations to Hershey Islamic Center volleyball team for winning the 2012 Dawah cup. It was an exciting and long lasting match and they finally defeated Mechanicsburg Team B by the scores 10-15;15-10;15-12.

At the end of the final league game, Group A was led by Sabreen Team B and Mechanicsburg Team B and, the Group B was led Mechanicsburg Team A and Hershey Team. Both the leading teams of GroupA/B lost to their opponents in the semis. Due to time constraints and the semis taking longer than expected, we could not play the 3rd place decider. Therefore, the organizing committee decided to place both the losers of the semi finalist to the 3^rd place.

Prize distribution will be held next Saturday, April 7th during ISGH’s fundraising event. We request everyone to attend and support our center. We are able to conduct these events only because of your support.

Good people, good food, good cause and good donations… all these ingredients were present last night that made ISGH prestigious fundraising dinner a memorable event. Alhumdulillah, around 300 people attended and jazakallah Khair for your participation. Our goal was to raise $70,000 and Alhumdulillah, we were able to generate an impressive $45,000 (including pledges) with your support. Thanks to our guest speaker for his heart touching speech. We are grateful to all those who attended and donated, and also to those, who could not attend but still donated. May Allah reward you in this world and hereafter. We sincerely apologize for being late in our schedule.
We would like to extend our sincere prayers for those, who in spite of their best efforts have not been able to attend our event. May Allah grant us with many such opportunities in the future, Insha-Allah.

-          $50 Registration Fee per team; $60 Late Fee

-          Format: Round Robin and then Playoffs

-          Team Size: Max 6; Min 4; Roster Limit – 10 Players Maximum Per Team

-          Awards: Trophies to 1st – 3rd place

-          Schedule will be released by March 23rd

-          Liability Waiver Should be Signed by all Players

Dinner after Lecture
We at ISGH are having a competition on February 11 ,2012. Students will be tested on their knowledge about the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Inshallah, we will provide study material.

We cordially invite students from all Islamic center to participate in this competition. If your children are  not going to any Islamic school they can still participate. They  will be added to one of the team according to age and gender.

Inshallah, kids will increase their knowledge by participating in this event. It is also a great way to strengthen our bonds , it is an opportunity for kids to meet Muslims of same age from other centers.

Inshallah, it will be a great experience for parents and kids.

Kids of all ages, who do not want to compete are welcome to present anything related to Prophet SAW.

For the competition student will be divided in 4 groups.

Group A: Boys 8 to 11 years old
Group B:Boys 12 to 16 years old
Group C: Girls 8 to 11 years old
Group D:Girls 12 to 16 years old

These groups will be further divided in to teams.

Participant will be given a set of question to prepare from.
